The Basics
Following on from the success that was the Summer Marathon, we've decided to go ahead and do the Halloween Horror Marathon as it's a kick ass theme and lots of things can be done with it.
Costumes are encouraged!
When
October 31st 2014 - The stream starts at 6PM through till 6PM on the 1st November.
Where
Games Lounge - It's opposite the battle-tec shop, where Lorenzos restaurant was.
The bar will be open till 12.45AM. Then it will be teas/coffees through till 11AM.
Who
Anyone and everyone. There are a few changes to this event in the way of organisation which I have noted below.
Darren Ringland (RetroGuernsey) will once again be kind enough to be running things from a technical point of view.
Myself, Lee Burton (GoneHunting) and Ali Huntley (GEIST) will be doing most of the organisation bits and pieces where needed.
Anyone who wishes to play feel free. Just go HERE and put your name down on the schedule!
Hardware
Darren is going to be providing the streaming PC as a lot of the overlays and set up will be done prior to the event starting. It also means we can test certain aspects of the stream before getting to the Games Lounge.
In terms of gaming equipment, Lee is bringing his computer as the main gaming PC, and as well as that we will of course have consoles. With Steam Family Sharing enabled it allows us access to a huge range of games for the event.
Dan at the Games Lounge has upgraded the connection at the Games Lounge so the stream quality should be miles better,
Games
Anything horror. The scarier the better.
Full list here.
The Charities
Action For Children
RNLI Guernsey
The money raised will be split between the two charities.
Donations
Donations can be accepted through sponsorship forms, or on the GG4G website, or on the twitch.tv broadcast.
Stream
The event will once again be streamed live on the GG4G twitch account.
With twitch.tv's recent hosting feature, it would be awesome for those who are taking part to host the GG4G stream. More viewers = more donations.
Read below for the highlight of the event! The Dark Room.... *shivers*
Things we learnt from the Summer Marathon
This time round, there will be time slots allocated to individuals (or groups of people, preferably not larger than 3) that will be sent into the backroom which will be made creepy and eerie as heck to do their stint of the marathon. This will be the main focus of the stream, so any internet resources will be pushed at that. Hopefully we can get the backroom pretty dark, so tension is high, making for a entertaining stream. This also means that we will have to have a plan in place with who is playing what and when.
Due to a lot going on, we put a large amount of strain on the Games Lounge internet unnecessarily. With people playing online and background downloads it made the stream quality not so good. We're going to slightly be changing in this in the fact that if you are not in the 'dark room', please do not play online. Sure, feel free to play with friends and single player games throughout the event, and have fun. But do it offline.
DISCLAIMER - As like last time, all of these points are open to discussion and modification but it's a start. We've found that with getting everyone to put their input in is useful so we'll take any points on board. I hope to update this thread with things as they develop.
IF YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS OR INPUT, POST IT!
